Hardee County Florida

Hardee County has a wide variety of recreational activities to accommodate almost everyone. Born in the mid-1800s from the forts erected against the Indian attacks, the central Florida soil that comprises Hardee County today is some of the richest in the world. One of the country’s top prime agricultural centers – the abundant produce and prize-winning livestock bring top dollar, and sweet Valencia oranges are always in constant demand. The beautiful parks can be enjoyed year round while our sunny weather and “country style” offer a perfect setting for fishing, camping, swimming, hunting and fossil searching.

And don't miss Pioneer Park Days; One of the largest and oldest antique tractor, steam engine, and farm equipment shows in the southeast. Some of the highlights include over 400 exhibits of tractors, hit and miss steam engines and farm equipment. Antique tractors host a tractor parade around the outside perimeter of the park where daily entertainment such as country music, bluegrass music, and cloggers just to name a few, is scheduled.

Hardee County is one of the premiere spots to do a little paddling along the scenic Peace River. The Peace River winds through the county and is a sight to see. You will want to enjoy it again and again. According to National Geographic Magazine, the Peace River is one of America's last "wild and scenic rivers." The local parks and the Peace River offer a wide variety of fresh water fish. Because we are not far from the Gulf of Mexico, many enjoy fishing on the flats and in the Gulf for a wide selection of salt water fish. Hardee County has five recreational lakes for fresh water fishing.
